From our home to yours
What started as a small home-based business in 2009 by our founder, Mahalakshmi, has grown into a family journey built on tradition, taste, and hard work.
Today, Co-founder Deepa carries this journey forward through Oormanam, a new brand created to bring our family’s traditional homemade flavours to more homes.
From our early days of making podi, thokku, pickles, and ghee to building a trusted food business, our values have always remained the same — authentic taste, quality, and the goodness of homemade food.

Where it all begins
Lion Ghee Store | 2011–2020
In 2011, we opened our first small store in Hyderabad, Lio Ghee Store, where we offered our homemade ghee, pickles, thokku, and traditional food products.
For nearly a decade, from 2011 to 2020, the store became an important part of our journey, helping us connect directly with customers and grow our passion for traditional homemade food.
Returning to Our Native
In 2020, during the COVID period, we moved back to our native place, a small village near Vellakoil, and took a two-year break from the business.
In 2022, we started again on a small scale, supplying our products to local stores, family, and friends.
In January 2025, we set up a small stall at our daughter’s school Annual Day. To our surprise, we sold out successfully without even having to promote the products. That experience gave us the confidence to take our family’s food journey forward once again.
